The App Association's Annual App Economy Conference (AppCon) brings together app executives and technology innovators from across the country for three days of networking, learning, and engaging their elected officials on some of the most pressing issues facing app makers today.

Last year we made a big difference, with more attendees and meetings than ever before. Congress heard your voices on the key issues for our industry, and we've already seen the impact of your hard work.

We're looking forward to doing it again this year!

Sunday, April 23

Reception at ACT / The App Association Offices, Followed by Dinner

After you've settled into the hotel, join us in our office to meet our team, your fellow attendees, and to enjoy some snacks and cocktails. From there, we will head to one of our favorite dinner spots.

Monday, April 24

Issue Briefings

After you are sufficiently fed and caffeinated, our policy discussions will begin! We will cover a variety of policy issues including cybersecurity, lawful access to data, computer science education, and tax reform.

In the evening, we'll enjoy a group dinner at a different delicious D.C. restaurant.

Tuesday, April 25

Capital Hill Day

After breakfast at the hotel, we will all head to Capitol Hill for a full day of meetings with your Representative and Senators, as well as staff from key committees with jurisdiction over the issues we're there to discuss.

That night, we'll have a reception and dinner celebrating a successful day (bonus: awards!).

We hope you'll join us for our annual App Economy conference! All you need to do is get to D.C., and we'll cover the rest, from hotel to transportation and great meals in D.C. hotspots.

Topics for 'Issue Briefings' Day:

Lawful Access to Data - We continue to support the International Communications Privacy Act (ICPA), a bill that addresses outdated rules that do not account for the cloud or overseas data storage.

Taxes - We continue to work against internet sales tax proposals that require small businesses to follow the thousands of tax jurisdictions in which they do business. In addition, we are closely tracking tax reform proposals that could encourage companies to repatriate the money they have overseas, freeing up capital for investment and mezzanine financing here in the United States.

Cyber Security - Businesses and individual consumers expect apps to keep their data safe and secure. We strongly oppose any proposals that weaken data protection, demand backdoors, or require websites, app stores, and even open source projects to "police" software that hurts the ability of companies to protect consumers.

Intellectual Property/Copyright - We continue to push for a strong intellectual property system that allows our members to profit from their innovations while providing licensing opportunities that promote growth in the United States and abroad.
